Bart's Signature BBQ Sauce

Made with simple store-bought ingredients and developed over years, this versatile sauce is perfect for grilled chicken or baby back ribs. Or mix with pulled pork, place the mixture on a bun, and top with coleslaw for one heck of a tasty sandwich.

  • 4 cups
  • 5 minutes
  • 1-12 hours

Ingredients

  • 3 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cups cider vinegar
  • 5 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Hickory liquid smoke
  • 2 teaspoons Kitchen Bouquet
  • 2 teaspoons cayenne
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • salt to taste

Preparation

  1. In a saucepan, bring all ingredients to slow boil.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour.
  3. Let rest until sauce reaches room temperature. Important:
  4. Refrigerate at least one evening or six hours before use. (Sauce will keep up to one week in refrigerator.)
